Dr. Anatoli Borissov Honored by Cambridge Who's Who for Excellence in Engineering Physics

Dr. Anatoli Borissov celebrates 37 years in product development, scientific research, and higher education

MISSOURI CITY, TX, August 31, 2010 /HiTech PR News/ -- Dr. Anatoli Borissov, President and Chief Technology Officer of General Vortex Energy, Inc., has been recognized by Cambridge Who's Who for demonstrating dedication, leadership and excellence in engineering physics.

With 37 years of industry experience, Dr. Anatoli Borissov is respected for his expertise in combustion, gas dynamics and wave propagation. He is the founder of General Vortex Energy, a manufacturing company that specializes in engine and combustion technologies. As the president and CTO, he performs a combination of administrative and technical tasks. These include overseeing all operational development programs, conducting research on new volume-distributed, flameless, oxidation combustion systems, supervising government contracts, educating employees, implementing processes and systems that will generate higher productivity and revenue, and delivering presentations on new approaches and entrepreneurship.

Dr. Borissov enjoyed an illustrious career in research and academia as well. He came to the United States from his native Russia as a Fulbright professor, lecturing at the department of aerospace engineering at the University of Maryland in College Park. Prior to establishing General Vortex Energy, he taught as an adjunct professor in the mechanical and nuclear engineering department of Kansas State University. Deeply involved in the field of research, Dr. Borissov directed studies at Digicon Inc., Universal Compression and LCM, and lent his talents to EQUADYNE International. In Russia, he served as director of the Institute for Applied Hydrodynamics and worked for the Institute of Thermophysics at the Russian Academy of Natural Sciences. He was a member of the organizing committees of a number of important conferences, among them the Lavrentyev Readings on Mathematics, Mechanics and Physics, the International Seminar on Flame Structure, and the International Conference on Dynamic Explosion and Reactive System held in Nagoya, Japan.

Widely regarded as a leader in his field, Dr. Borissov has presented numerous lectures on high-efficiency, positive displacement turbines, volume-distribution, and flameless combustion. His company currently holds intellectual property rights for multiple patents, as well as several areas of technology in the process of provisional patenting or nearing a stage of filing. These patents provide the company with the opportunity to explore new markets with additional unique, patent-protected technologies. In the near future, Dr. Borissov would like to commercialize the combustor for turbines and engine, which is a General Vortex Energy, Inc. component. He also hopes to apply a more efficient thermodynamic cycle by developing new technologies in the area of power production and waste heat recovery from geothermal and industrial sources.

He is a member of the Russian Academy of Natural Sciences in Moscow. Dr. Borissov earned his doctor of science in physics and mathematics in 1986 and his Ph.D. in physics in 1977 from the Russian Academy of Science in Novosibirsk. Additionally, he received his master's degree in physics and engineering in 1973 and his bachelor's degree in interior ballistic, physics and mathematics in 1972, both from Tomsk State University. His professional affiliations include the American Society of Mechanical Engineers and the Advanced Aerospace Propulsion Program of the Department of Defense's Office of Naval Research.
